Take Your Position

He taught us to let Him set the pace. He taught us to prepare in private. Now He brings us to the line — fully paced, fully prepared — and all that’s left is to take your position, and trust that the outcome was never ours to secure.

    Set yourselves. Stand still.

    Jehoshaphat and Judah faced not one nation but a coalition of three. Outmatched by every natural measure, his response wasn’t to rally and strategize; it was to seek uSoNINI NaNINI, fast, and pray before the whole assembly, admitting plainly they didn’t know what to do — but their eyes were on Him. And the answer He gives is not a battle plan. It’s a position.

    Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of uSoNINI NaNINI with you, O Judah and Jerusalema: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for uSoNINI NaNINI will be with you.

    Sometimes the most faithful thing you can do isn’t move — it’s stay exactly where He’s placed you, with your eyes open, and let Him be the one who moves.

    Hold your peace.

    The same instruction, given to an earlier generation facing a different kind of impossible. That’s not a coincidence — that’s a pattern. Different crisis, different century, same word from the same Father. And look at what is asked: not just don’t panic. Hold your peace. That’s laying down the urge to control the outcome, to fix it yourself, to find your own way out, and placing the whole weight of the moment on Him.

    And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of uSoNINI NaNINI, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. uSoNINI NaNINI shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.

    uSoNINI NaNINI fights. We hold our peace. That’s the position.

    Having done all, to stand.

    Paul is writing to people facing something they can’t even see — not flesh and blood, but principalities, powers, spiritual wickedness. A different battlefield, and still a position to be taken. Look at what is provided for it: not a weapon to swing, but armor to wear. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, the word of God, prayer without ceasing. All of it meant to help you stand, not strike first. Sometimes the position is simply staying covered, because the fight isn’t always visible.

    Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of uSomandla, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

    Ephesians 6:13 KJV, as we read it

    Not having conquered all. Not having defeated all. Having done all that was yours to do — and then trusting Him to hold what’s left.

Closing

Jehoshaphat, staring down three armies, told to set himself and stand still. Akobi, backed against the sea, told to hold their peace and watch the LORD fight. The assembly at Ephesus, facing an enemy they couldn’t see, told to put on the armor and stand. Three different battles, three kinds of impossible, and the same word underneath all of it: this fight was never yours to win. Wherever you’re standing today — whatever’s closing in behind you, whatever looks too wide to cross, whatever you’re wrestling with that you can’t even see — take your position. Stand still. Hold your peace. And watch uSoNINI NaNINI be exalted in it.

Where are you trying to secure an outcome that was never yours to secure? What would it look like this week to hold your peace there — and stand?

May uSoNINI NaNINI increase you and keep you. May He make His face shine upon you and be gracious unto you. May He lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace.
