Teachings / The Marathon / Part 1

Slow & Steady Wins the Race

· Brother Jaylon

Sometimes it’s not about who’s the fastest. It’s about who makes it to the finish line. It’s not about beating a clock — it’s about arriving on uSoNINI NaNINI’s timing.

  1. 01

    It’s a marathon, not a sprint.

A sprint asks how fast you can get there. A marathon asks whether you can get there at all — whether you can endure the next mile, keep pace, and trust that uSoNINI NaNINI will get you there even when it looks like others are getting there first. Solomon isn’t saying the swift lose. He’s saying speed was never the deciding factor. The Most High isn’t keeping score on who looked most impressive in the first mile; He’s watching to see who stayed in the race.

Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest. I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.

    Ecclesiastes 9:10–11 KJV

It doesn’t say don’t get tired. It says don’t quit. If you feel like you’re behind today — you’re not behind. You’re still in the race.

  2. 02

The Most High’s timing is the best timing.

Think about a seed in the ground. For days, sometimes weeks, it looks like nothing is happening — but underneath the soil the roots are forming. The seed is doing exactly what it’s supposed to do, just not on our schedule. A seed that’s planted is already promised to become something. The waiting doesn’t change what it’s appointed to be.

And uSoNINI NaNINI answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.

Habakkuk 2:2–3 KJV, as we read it

If it feels quiet right now, that’s not uSoNINI NaNINI forgetting you. That’s Him working underneath, right on time. His time. For surely, it will come.

  3. 03

Your path has already been written.

Before we took our first step, uSoNINI NaNINI already knew the whole walk — not just where we’d end up, but every mile in between. Think of a book you haven’t finished: the ending is already printed on a page you haven’t turned to. In thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned — not all at once, but piece by piece, over time. The pace itself was written into the plan.

My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

    Psalm 139:15–16 KJV

The mile that felt like it was taking forever — that wasn’t us falling behind schedule. That was the schedule.

Closing

Slow and steady wins the race — not because speed doesn’t matter, but because speed was never what uSoNINI NaNINI was keeping track of. He’s watching to see if you stayed in it. And when we wander, He doesn’t throw the book away and start over; He brings us back to the path He already wrote — He just may add a few more miles than we needed to walk. So wherever you are today, keep walking. Keep your pace. Trust His timing, even the part of it that’s correcting you.

Carry into the week

Where are you sprinting to catch up with something the Most High has already written? What would keeping His pace look like there this week?

Priestly increasings

Now unto uSoNINI NaNINI, who is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us — unto Him be glory in the assembly throughout all ages, world without end.

May uSoNINI NaNINI increase you and keep you. May He make His face shine upon you and be gracious unto you. May He lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace.

And let the Assembly say, HALALELA.
