When All Else Fails

At some point we’ve all experienced a lack of trust in the Most High — worrying about our needs, taking matters into our own hands. Some of us are dealing with it as we speak; I certainly do, day to day. And a lack of trust leads us down paths of disobedience, as it did Saul. But the Most High doesn’t leave us there. So how do we learn to trust Him when everything feels uncertain? Three steps over three Sambas — and the first is humility.

1. 01

   Acknowledge who the Most High is in your life.

   Humble, in the sense that matters here, means offered in a spirit of deference or submission. Submission isn’t a suggestion — it’s a lifestyle, part of our daily walk. And it begins by acknowledging who He is: our creator, in control of all things, the very reason we exist at this moment. Through Him all our increase flows. He wrote our lives from the beginning and knew the outcome before the events happened. By honoring that fact, we position ourselves to be favored by uSoNINI NaNINI and covered by His grace.

   Know ye that uSoNINI NaNINI he is uSomandla: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

   Admit your sins before Him.

   A submitted life requires us to openly and willingly admit our sins before Him — withholding nothing, and you might as well, seeing as He knows everything already. When we confess and repent, He forgives, cleanses, and renews our hearts. But keep in mind what repentance is. It is more than “I’m sorry, will you forgive me?” It is an honest, heartfelt apology coupled with a permanent act of change. Once you repent of something, you don’t find an excuse to do it again.

   If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

   1 John 1:9 KJV

   As you confess yourselves openly, so will the Most High continue to open Himself to you.

   Live in obedience to His word.

   Obedience is the culmination of submitting yourself and repenting — it is what follows. Saul was commanded to destroy Amalek completely. He spared Agag, kept the best of the sheep and oxen claiming they were for sacrifice, and hearkened to the voice of the people instead of the voice of the Most High. Had he not operated in fear — had he trusted — he would not have lost the kingdom or his favor with uSoNINI NaNINI, and his prayers would not have fallen on deaf ears. Many of our inconvenient situations could have been avoided the same way. The world tells you it’s fine to sin as long as you ask forgiveness after. Those temporary pleasures always lead to permanent consequence if you don’t straighten up in time.

   And Samuel said, Hath uSoNINI NaNINI as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of uSoNINI NaNINI? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
