Obedience Is Better Than Sacrifice Pt. 2: Where Rebellion Leads

Rebellion left unaddressed doesn’t stay where it starts. It moves. It progresses. And it arrives somewhere. Today we look honestly at where that road leads — not to frighten anyone, but because uSoNINI NaNINI never exposes a danger without also giving us the wisdom to avoid it.

1. 01

   Stage one: rejection.

   Saul had every resource he needed to obey — the command, the army, the authority — and he stopped just short of the full instruction. Before the confrontation, before the bleating of the sheep gave him away, uSoNINI NaNINI had already said: he is turned back from following me. Not fallen away dramatically. Turned back. And the verdict that follows is not a surprise; it is a response. Saul rejected first. The rejection from the Most High came after. The first thing rebellion costs is the thing He entrusted to you — position, assignment.

   And Samuel said unto Saul, I will not return with thee: for thou hast rejected the word of uSoNINI NaNINI, and uSoNINI NaNINI hath rejected thee from being king over Akobi.

   This was a pattern. A hardening. And the hardening doesn’t go on forever — there is a point where suddenly becomes the word that applies.

   Stage two: the Spirit departs.

   Two chapters later, something that should stop us cold: the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul. Not his title this time — his covering. A man who still had a crown on his head, still technically king, but the thing that made the assignment meaningful was gone, and what filled that space was not neutral. It was trouble. David understood the weight of this; after his own failure his prayer was not for his reputation but cast me not away from thy presence. Isaiah 59:2 names why: your iniquities have separated between you and your God.

   But the Spirit of uSoNINI NaNINI departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from uSoNINI NaNINI troubled him.

   First you lose the assignment. Then you lose the covering. And when the covering lifts, what fills that space is not something we want to make room for.

3. 03

   Stage three: reprobation.

   Given over. Not struck down — given over. There is a point where uSoNINI NaNINI stops contending with what a person refuses to surrender and lets them go in the direction they kept choosing. That is not cruelty; that is justice. And by 1 Samuel 28 the man whose rebellion was called witchcraft is consulting a witch — in disguise, in the dark, asking a dead man what to do, because the living word had stopped answering him. He knows what has happened. Instead of returning, he reaches for what the Most High forbade.

   And even as they did not like to retain uSomandla in their knowledge, uSomandla gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

   That is not a coincidence. That is a destination.
